Breanna Stewart Re-Signs With Liberty

Breanna Stewart has agreed to a one-year deal to return to the New York Liberty for the 2024 season. In her first season with the team, Stewart won her second WNBA MVP award and broke numerous WNBA and franchise records to propel the Liberty to their first WNBA Finals appearance since 2002. Shams Charania from The Athletic and Stadium was the first to report the news.

Stewart’s deal is both non-guaranteed and a below-maximum deal, which allows the Liberty to have more flexibility in trading or

Review of ‘Shattered Glass: A WNBPA Story’ Documentary

Women’s basketball is continuing to grow as more records are being broken and new faces joining the league. With that momentum, the stories and narratives told off the court are just as important as those that are told on it.

‘Shattered Glass: A WNBPA Story’ is a recently released documentary on Tubi that takes a deep dive into the lives of some of the WNBA’s biggest superstars and vocal leaders. The film is produced by Malka Media and directed by former college athlete Andrea Buccilla.

How OCEANMAN changed my perspective on sports and community

While in Thailand, Living Sport had the opportunity to travel to Phuket, one of the southernmost provinces and the country’s largest island, to help work the OCEANMAN World Final Championship. OCEANMAN is the only global international open-water swimming series, founded in 2015 by Fermin Egido Alonso.

One of the original things that attracted me to Living Sport, a sports business program and study abroad opportunity, was the chance to work an international sporting event. As someone who hasn’t

Liberty vs. Aces Finals Preview: Matchups, History

In the longest season in WNBA history, filled with record-setting performances on the court and growth in viewership and attendance across the board, it is only fitting that the Finals will feature the most anticipated matchup in recent years—the New York Liberty vs. the Las Vegas Aces.

It is a matchup that many basketball fans expected to see and bet on before the regular season even started because of the “superteam” moniker that has been given to both teams.

NY Liberty Advance to WNBA Finals After Thrilling Game 4 Win Over Sun

With the game on the line and looking to help her team make its first WNBA Finals appearance in 21 years, the Liberty’s Jonquel Jones was fouled while corralling an offensive rebound under the basket, surrounded by three Connecticut Sun players with 54 seconds remaining in the game. Jones calmly hit her two free throws and got a steal on the next Sun possession, hitting two more free throws to extend New York’s lead to five. Staving off a late Sun comeback, more key free throws from Betnijah Lan

A new era for the Green Bay Packers

With their first new starting quarterback since 2008 and being the youngest team in the NFL to start the season, nobody really knew what to expect from the Green Bay Packers when they traveled to Chicago to face the Bears for Week 1 of the 2023 season. As one of the oldest rivalries in the NFL, the Packers have had the edge over the Bears for many years, boasting a 26-5 record in the last 15 seasons, with Aaron Rodgers as their starting quarterback. Rodger’s departure to the New York Jets this o

Why Lehigh will win the 158th Rivalry game

Lehigh (2-8) and Lafayette (3-7) are coming into the 158th Rivalry game with the same records they had going into the game last season.

Both teams are also entering the game with a 2-3 record in the Patriot League.

Lafayette may hold a one game lead over Lehigh in wins, but as shown in previous years, when it comes to the Rivalry game, records don’t matter.

Both teams have recorded wins against Colgate and lost to league-leaders Holy Cross, Princeton (5-1 in Ivy League play) and Fordham. Lehi

Title IX: Changes in sports equity at Lehigh over the years

To commemorate the 50th anniversary of Title IX, the Patriot League appointed select women as “Trailblazers of Distinction.” This title celebrates their accomplishments as athletes, coaches and administrators.

Title IX, a federal civil rights law passed on June 23, 1972, states: “No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal finan

Subtronics Stunning Visuals at Barclays Center

Jaw-dropping visuals. Lasers, pyrotechnics and mesmerizing technicolor LED screens and panels light up and take the audience on a journey. A perfect synchronization of headbanging and jumping when the beat drops. The Subtronics show at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, last Friday was one of the coolest concert experiences I’ve ever had.

Subtronics has gained millions of followers in the past few years for his authenticity and unique dubstep sounds he is able to create. While I am not nece

Måneskin rocks the Garden

I saw Måneskin for the second time this past Thursday at their sold-out Madison Square Garden show in New York, the third stop on their Rush! World Tour. It was a show filled with different renditions of songs, covers, hits from their recent album Rush! and a bunch of surprises overall which made for an incredible night and historic show.

I first saw the band perform last November at The Fillmore in Philadelphia, just a 2,500-capacity venue. From that performance to seeing them play one of the

Accessibility of third places in Bethlehem

While exploring Southside Bethlehem, one may find themselves strolling along the two-mile Greenway, passing by the red- and blue-colored playground or walking past the outdoor patio of Cafe the Lodge. Up ahead is the Bethlehem Skateplaza, where locals of all ages skateboard. In the distance is the SteelStacks and a large green space that houses concert venue Levitt Pavilion.

These settings all fall under the term “third place,” which refers to social surroundings that exclude the home or workpl

ShareCare: Helping Hands and Lifting Spirits

When Bethlehem resident Sandra Takacs, age 73, began to lose her vision, she needed a way to get to her doctor appointments and run simple errands like grocery shopping.

The public buses did not stop at her house anymore, and the ride-share program she had signed up for wasn’t a good fit.

“It’s difficult when you have a hard time seeing, and I didn’t even know how close the drop-offs and pickups were,” Takacs said. “I used to have to try to get rides with a personal friend and the one that use

Animal shelters and economic hardships

The pit bull mix, living off cereal, was unkempt, signified by its lack of fur. It had skin allergies and desperately needed antibiotics. The owner, a gentle, quiet man known to the staff as Mr. Conrad, was referred to the Animal Food Bank of the Lehigh Valley at its former Bethlehem location by a local human food pantry. Due to financial difficulties and mental health issues, Mr. Conrad simply didn’t have the funds or knowledge to help his pet.

Sharing a ride with Cutters

The entrance is narrowed by protruding bikes. Wheels and even more bikes are suspended from the ceiling. An array of wrenches, sprockets, levers and pliers line the back wall behind the counter. John Ronca, tools in hand, stands over a bike. Lisa Ronca sees a customer, who has a coffee in his hand, coming into the shop and greets him with an enthusiastic welcome.

The Roncas, husband and wife, are co-owners of Cutters Bike Shop on East Third Street on the Southside. The shop offers bike repairs,
